Italian Studies at York University is an interdisciplinary program in the best tradition of the humanities, offering courses in literature, culture, language, linguistics, media, film, opera, and Italian-Canadian studies. The program also offers courses on immigration, cinema and Italian culture.
In this video clip, Paul Elia talks about his father Mariano Elia’s philanthropic work and the legacy he left behind. Part of that legacy was the establishment of The Mariano A. Elia Chair in Italian-Canadian Studies at York University. Today the Italian Chair promotes knowledge of the Italian-Canadian experience and its contribution to the development of Canada.
